Yahoo! 360 set to close

Yahoo! 360 is set to close on July 13th, the search engine has announced, in news which may interest businesses using social media marketing to improve search engine optimisation.

The group has revealed that its personal communication portal will close, 18 months after first unveiling its plans to do so.

Yahoo! advises 360 users to move all their content and posts to their new profile ahead of the closure in order to stay connected.

Commenting on the news, Matt McGee, in a post for Search Engine Land, claims that the delay arose as Yahoo! was looking for a way to preserve its users' content.

Melissa Daniels, Yahoo! community manager, said: "Though 360 gained a strong core of loyal users - you - who enjoyed the service, Yahoo! has been reprioritising some products to help us deliver the best possible experiences to consumers."

Mr McGee explains that users will now be able to blog on Yahoo! Profiles, which was recently expanded, or use an export tool to move content to platforms such as WordPress, MoveableType and Blogger.
