Google has announced its decision to start "from the ground up" in creating a brand new Webmaster Tools design.
Product manager Sagar Kamdar and Josh Teague, interaction designer, both of the Webmaster Tools Team at Google, explain that the decision follows time spent listening to users' comments at conferences and consulting user studies, forums and blogs.
"It was much needed and the end result is beautiful in our eyes," they add.
Highlights of the new tools include a one-stop dashboard to bring together data which is viewed regularly, such as top search queries, sitemaps and crawl errors.
There are also now more top search queries, along with sitemap tracking for multiple users.
Furthermore, the Webmaster Tools design includes message subscription to ensure that users never miss an important notification and an improved menu and navigation system.
While the new design is now available, the old design will remain active for the next couple of weeks as well.
However, while Google is busy making changes to its Webmaster Tools, a poll by Search Engine Roundtable has revealed that 56 per cent of Google advertisers dislike its new AdWords interface.
