Google's news service has been improved to allow users to browse clusters of different resources from a list of links across the top of the page - which may provide a boost to search engine optimisation.
Under the title Full Coverage, web users can narrow their story search by filtering it through options such as blogs, articles, local sources, images, quotes and videos.
However, David Ganzhorn and Corrie Scalisi, software engineers at Google, stated that the content which appears on these pages will depend on what material is available for each article.
"Depending on the most recent coverage and materials available for a given story, the page features top articles, quotes from the people in the story, and posts from news blogs," they said.
Furthermore, users may also have the opportunity to browse a timeline of articles to trace media coverage of the story.
In an article for TechCrunch on the Washington Post, MG Siegler states that while Google is "good" at organising the world's data, Google News "absolutely sucks".
