Internet advertising techniques, including pay per click and search engine optimisation, are showing resilience through the current recession, a point that one commentator claims is not surprising.
Eva Berg-Winters, assistant director at PricewaterhouseCoopers Strategy, said that search advertising in particular was able to show a good return on investment for businesses and brands.
And she added that overall, internet advertising was able to positively illustrate what organisations could get out of the platform after investing minimal money in it.
"In terms of measurability and accountability of online advertising it is a medium that is very, very good at showing return on investment," Ms Berg-Winters noted.
And in further good news for online marketing, a study by the Internet Advertising Bureau has revealed that the UK is now the world's most advanced market for internet advertising, with £1 in every £5 of media budgets spent online.
Furthermore, paid-for search grew by 22.7 per cent to £1,986.9 million, a 59.3 per cent share of all online advertising.
