A change to the title tags from Twitter could have a number of implications for search engine optimisation for businesses, it has been claimed.
The discovery was made by Robin Wauters at TechCrunch, who noted that Twitter results displayed in Google have been subtly optimised.
Instead of reading "Twitter/ robinwauters" - the user's Twitter profile - the title tag now reads "Robin Wauters on Twitter," he points out.
While this appears to be a small change, it has an "undeniably big impact" on how Twitter pages will be ranked in search engines, Mr Wauters points out.
As ZDNet points out, the change could help a number of small start-ups improve their search engine optimisation. Ranking highly for names can help to boost revenue, Mr Wauters notes, citing the changes being made by Facebook to how its profile URLs are displayed.
But individuals may now find that it is easier to brand themselves, helping to boost their overall search engine optimisation.
