Google is constantly changing and adapting and making things difficult for search engine optimisation (SEO), but there are ways that smaller companies and organisations can succeed, one expert has claimed.
SEO Book's Peter D claims that one of the biggest changes that SEO workers have had to adapt to in recent years is to algorithm shifts "that reward big players".
And while the big firms have the capital to run large ongoing media campaigns, or even buy out the competition, their size can still act against them as their funding for such projects dries up.
Mr D explains that the key to small SEO users succeeding lies with social media and advises them to use a blog to keep in contact, network to spread the firm's message by word of mouth and cross promote services on a friend's site.
This is where the little guy can come out on top, as he asserts that big companies have problems personalising their relationships and services.
And Maggie Holland, editor of IT PRO, has also recognised the benefits of blogs, claiming that they create a sense of "connected community".
