Google's Darwinian approach

Google's approach to product design has struck one search engine optimisation professional as "Darwinian".
Writing on the online pages of Search Engine Land, Greg Sterling came to this conclusion due to the search engine's trend of releasing new products with little promotion and then let them evolve under the survival of the fittest pattern.
"If Google's products don't gain traction they may disappear back into the Google engineering pool or form the basis for new species, as with the recent shuttering of Dodgeball and opening of Latitude," he explained.
Mr Sterling added that in the past the group had allowed their products more time in which to either develop or fail but this timeframe now seemed to have been compressed.
And one product that may now have lost the battle of survival of the fittest is AdWords Business Pages for Mobile Ads, which Tim Cohn states in his blog is being "retired".
