Yahoo! has applied for a patent that lays out its plans to automatically optimise web pages for search engines, it has been noted.
Bill Slawski, in a blog post for SEO By The Sea, explains that the process will involve examining search queries and potentially users' browsing activities in the search engine log files.
Furthermore, semantic search tools may be utilised, as Yahoo! complies information on how words, concepts and topics are related to one another, along with the popularity of these units, he added.
Mr Slawski commented that it was unusual to find a document from a search engine that discussed search engine optimisation (SEO).
"It's even more rare to see one providing details on how that search engine might actually optimise web sites for search engines," he stated.
And earlier in the month it was reported that Google has also hinted it will be placing a greater emphasis on developing semantic search in 2009.
Google Watch's Clint Boulton reports that the announcement was made following Google's posting of its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2008.
