When it comes to search engine optimisation (SEO) one expert has been keen to follow the "golden rule" by only using white hat methods.
In an interview with Search Engine Journal, Steve Plunkett asserted that he has always followed the rule of creating unique content that has been specifically created for the search query.
However, he added: "Honestly I think there are many things that are a bit black hat in how Google utilises [domains] to rank websites, but if you understand the basic premise of Google you can do good SEO."
Mr Plunkett went on to note that SEO was evolving in terms of that more people and brands were now using it.
But where does the future of SEO lie?
Writing on the online pages of SEO Book, Peter D said that SEO would "of course" become more difficult but that if the bar was raised and a person reached it, there would be a new barrier between them and those who followed - which may give some the competitive edge.
