The development of Web 3.0, along social media lines, could effect a change in the way that searches are built and delivered, it has been claimed.
Writing a blog on Search Engine Land, industry expert Tom Wilde argued that the development of Web 3.0 will necessitate a change in search engine results pages so that there is less of a focus on the container, ie the whole web page, and more attention on separate objects, such as videos or individual articles.
The expert added that part of Google's success was built on the invention of a new way of identifying the value of any given web page, but now these pages may not be the most relevant way of finding what is being searched for.
Indeed there needs to be a move toward picking up relevant parts of a page so that results can be further refined, he argued.
Web 3.0 should be seen as a way to make the web much smarter than it currently is, the founder of one Web 3.0 company recently told the Times.
