Microsoft was recently granted a patent entitled Web Spam Classification Using Query Dependent Data, a tool which one sector commentator claims may be similar to what all search engines use to classify web pages.
In an article on the online pages of Axandra, the writer notes that search engines look out for the most frequent keywords, where they appear on a web page, the domain name and how many links there are for it and the HTML tags.
However, this algorithm may also misidentify certain websites as spam, they warned.
The commentator advised using IBT's Top 10 Optimizer to analyse all of the important elements of the web page and reveal what could be done to get higher online rankings.
"You should analyse all elements of your web pages to make sure that search engines label your web pages as high quality content and not as spam," they concluded.
Meanwhile, SEOmoz's Randfish claims that when it comes to search engine optimisation, online marketers should be asking themselves which social media platform will work best for them and achieve the most benefits.
