Search engine optimisation (SEO) activities are "very important" to companies and brands, according to one sector commentator.
Rich Kahn, a search engine marketing expert has over 15 years experience in this field and has recently written a white paper that examines the difference between SEO and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
While many businesses may already be familiar with the term SEO as an organic approach that companies can use to increase their search engine rankings through attracting more hits to their websites, they may be interested to hear more about SEM.
According to OBS News, SEM involves producing short text advertisements which then appear above or are embedded in content on a search result page or another website.
Mr Kahn explained that SEO techniques required creatively written content and forward-looking planning and were very important to the success of a business.
Meanwhile, SEM could produce some rapid and measurable results for a brand.
