Search engine optimisation (SEO) can often be a "killer marketing strategy" due to the fact that it enables small and medium-sized firms to compete with or even surpass the goliath competition of big business in rankings, one sector commentator has claimed.
Writing on the online pages of SEO Book, Peter D said that an SEO strategy can often be cheaper and more cost-effective than another channel, such as television, radio or print advertising.
One reason it is so effective in small business is that such companies are able to carve out and focus on a niche for themselves - narrowing the competition - something that is not as available to larger firms.
In addition, Peter D points to bootstrapping as an effective method, where small enterprises can establish which keywords work for them before setting up their SEO campaign.
"If there are few - or only one - of you, then it is much easier for you to incorporate good SEO. Not only can you compete with the big business, you can thrash them," he concluded.
Meanwhile, SEO Book's Aaron Wall has claimed that mixing up formats may help to improve blog-related SEO.
