Website blogs have more of an impact on purchase decisions than social networks do, it has been claimed.
Enid Burns, writing on the online pages of the Clickz Network, explained that this was because blogs became a trusted source of information and opinion and also created conversation, which may cause such content to help companies increase their search engine optimisation.
According to JupiterResearch and BuzzLogic, there has been a 300 per cent increase in the readership of monthly blogs over the last four years and a quarter of their readers said they trusted the ads posted on the blog pages.
Meanwhile, only 19 per cent found ads on social networking sites trustworthy.
Valerie Combs, vice-president of corporate communications at BuzzLogic, said: "More and more publishers are become extremely savvy understanding the game and becoming better at monetising, which is great for the advertiser as well."
Meanwhile, SEOmoz blogger Rebecca has reminded companies to ensure their users are not forced to "superfluously" click when visiting a site.
