Search engine optimisation (SEO) is about helping content to be found and indexed, webmasters have been told.
An article on SEO Scoop explains that there are five elements to search engine-focused optimisation.
One of these is to help content to be ranked in results - by attempting to understand how the portals' algorithms work.
Interlinking with other sites is also suggested as one way in which search engines can be shown the quality of content.
Meanwhile, three aspects combine to ensure that new content is discovered and ranked appropriately.
This is achieved by linking in to a new page, allowing search bots to spider it and using heading tags to highlight title text, SEO Scoop explains.
"Start with understanding these five goals of a search optimised page and then expand your knowledge," suggests the resource.
The SEO guidance provider previously advised including key phrases in the body text of a page to help content to appear in search results for web users' queries.
